French watchmaker Vianney Halter has been fascinated by watches and clocks since early age. He attended watchmaking school in Paris at the age of 13 and at 17 he began specializing in horological restoration work. After moving to Switzerland, he established his own company "Janvier SA" in 1994, named after famous French clockmaker Antide Janvier (1751 - 1835).

Over the past five years or so Vianney Halter has created his niche in the world of independent watchmaking. His designs are remarkably imaginative and unique and generally produced in vanishingly small quantities such as the "Antiqua' (introduced in 1999), the "Contemporaine", the "Trio" and the "Classic".
