A blue and white square-sectioned medicine bottle, Wanli (1573-1619)
of square-section form rising to the high rounded shoulders surmounted by a ribbed cylindrical neck, the sides painted with Buddhistic lions in flight amidst fire scrolls, ruyi-shaped cloud scrolls and auspicious emblems including coral branches and the Endless Knot, all above white crested waves and islands, the shoulders with trilobed floral cartouches reserved on sectional wan ground below the neck with a foilate scroll -- 11¼in. (28.5cm.) high.
