A celadon-grey archaistic jade vase and cover, 18th century
of flattened ovoid form, rising from the splayed foot to the galleried rim, surmounted by a domed cover with a rope-twist finial above a band of pendant lappets, the waisted neck flanked by a pair of mythical bird handles, carved in low relief with a wide band enclosing two taotie masks flanked by archaistic scrollwork, framed by a border of pendant blades on the neck and a lappet band above the foot, the foot and rim with a key-fret pattern, the stone of a pale celadon tone mottled with black inclusions and amber coloured streaks -- 10½in. (26.6cm.) high.
