An armchair, with petit point needlework on the back and seat, and with a similar shell motif on its seat-rail and similar profile of carving on the legs was in the collection of Percival D. Griffiths, F.S.A., Sandridgebury and illustrated in R. W. Symonds, English Furniture from Charles II to George II, London, 1929, p. 50, fig. 29. A stool with related shell is illustrated as fig. 82. A related early 18th century walnut side chair, with similarly-carved toprail and baluster-shaped splat was sold anonymously, Sotheby's, New York, lot 443 ($10,456).
