EINSTEIN, Albert (1879-1955). Autograph letter and autograph postcard signed ('Albert' and 'Albert bezw. [or rather] Papa') to his first wife, Mileva, n.p. and Leiden, 17 and 29 November 1931, in the letter giving the news that he will not be travelling on to Europe as he is off to the Institute of Technology in Pasadena for two months; he would be happy to take his younger son Eduard with him, but it is best for the moment that he sticks to his regular habits; 'Hopefully I will still be alive when he has finished his studies' -- then such journeys will be easier; Eduard's development is encouraging, and all that remains is for his creativity to develop; in the postcard Einstein recommends the purchase of a radio -- the bill can be sent to Professor [Paul] Ehrenfest in Leiden; together 2½ pages, 8vo and 4to.
