PRINTED ON VELLUM, 8° (191 x 116mm). Collation: A-I8, K6, L4. 79 leaves (of 82, lacking A6 with miniature of St. John, D3.6 and K2 and ?5). 14 large cuts, 18 smaller cuts, and publisher's device on title, ALL COLOURED IN GOLD AND COLOURS IN A CONTEMPORARY HAND, floral borders of acanthus leaves and flowers on a background of liquid gold, liquid gold initials on a ground of red and blue, four borders fully historiated. (Text on title verso skilfully retouched in black ink, some repainting on title and title verso, A2 and 7 on guard, small miniature on penultimate leaf removed and replaced with a skilful (?19th-century) replica, the text on the verso supplied in manuscript, a few borders shaved or smudged, a few miniatures with small areas of chipping or paint loss, one or two of the lower margins a little thumbed). Mid-17th-century French marbled calf, spine gilt in compartments, covers with central blindruled triple-fillet frame and corner fleurons, edges marbled and gilt, lacking clasps). Provenance: Angelique du Pille (18th-century inscription on endpaper).
