75 issues bound in 5 volumes and 15 loose issues, 4° and 8° (302 x 217mm et infra). Colour-printed and monochrome plates, some mounted, others folding, illustrations. Contemporary blue half morocco, original wrappers bound in, top edges gilt (extremities lightly rubbed, spines faded). Loose issues either in original cloth gilt, printed wrappers, or stapled sheets (occasional light rubbing or creasing). Provenance: occasional annotations, one catalogue with small inkstamp on title.
A COMPREHENSIVE COLLECTION OF BRESLAUER CATALOGUES, MONOGRAPHS, AND LISTS, comprising the scarce Schüddekopf sale catalogue, the complete series of catalogues 52-111, together with 25 Lists and three Monographs on Manuscripts. Martin Breslauer established his antiquarian bookselling business in Berlin in 1898, and moved the company to London in 1937, in order to escape Nazi Germany. Following his death in 1940, as the result of a heart attack caused by the bombing of London, his son Bernard took over the business and in 1977 Breslauer fils moved the company to New York, continuing to issue the Catalogues which maintained the company's reputation as one of the world's great booksellers.
