GARFIELD, PROBABLY DURING THE 1880 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN. A superbly clean, finely textured image of the ill-fated president, in three quarter view. We concur with the anonymous early owner who emphasized the relative rarity of this fine cabinet image, even in 1881. Its survival today, 126 years later, in near mint condition, is doubly remarkable.
