Lot Essay

Blueprint after the original plan from the Chandigarh office responsible for the 'Low Cost Furniture' program directed by Pierre Jeanneret.

Tables of this model were used to furnish several Chandigarh buildings. They were used as work tables in the College of Architecture and the College of Art, and as reading tables in the Central Library. Tables were frequently painted for hygienic reasons when used as cafeteria tables. The tapering legs and sloping edges of the top of this table are typical of Jeanneret's furniture designs.
