Lot Essay

Very few examples of this rare low chair were made and, currently, only eight seats and two banquettes in this same style have been identified. Produced for a number of different buildings in Chandigarh, there are slight variations the size and finish of each. This indicates that, as was the case with much of the furniture for Chandigarh, the pieces were made at different times in a number of different workshops.
