Lot Essay

Prabhawalkar was one of the young Indian architects who participated in the construction of Chandigarh. He established a close working relationship with both Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret and subsequently became the first director of the College of Architecture in Chandigarh.

The colored painting of the iron frame of this desk is strongly influenced by Le Corbusier's color schemes. Other models of this desk were painted in red, yellow, green, grey or black.
