L'Architecture d'aujourd'hui, vol 40, 1952 for an advertisement of Les Ateliers Jean Prouvé announcing the 'Brazza' cupboards, developed in collaboration with Charlotte Perriand.
Charlotte Perriand Archives, Paris, plan for standard model, no. 50 138.
Each apartment in the Unité d'Habitation Air France contained storage units of this type; the standard apartments were fitted with up to eight of them. Perriand's innovative design made the units adaptable to almost any layout and function, while at the same time taking into account the special requirements of the tropical climate. The color for each unit was carefully chosen for the type of room in which it would be installed. The model was registered and patented in the names of Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé on 20 March 1952.
A few examples of the 'Brazza' storage units were sold in France, and Charlotte Perriand's apartment in rue Las Cases in Paris was fitted with similar cupboards with two doors.
