This particularly rare version of Prouvé's iconic sideboard has an aluminum bottom, sides and doors and it is believes that only ten examples of this variation were produced. The sideboard was commissioned for the Société Générale du Congo in Brazzaville, a noteworthy modern building designed by the architect Henri Chomette in 1949. Other iterations of this piece were made entirely of painted aluminum or painted aluminum with a plywood bottom or, most commonly, painted steel and oak with doors in oak plywood or plain aluminum.
