NOTE:
Chong Yi, also named Wen Shan, belonged to the Man minority. He won first place in the Palace Examination in the fourth year of the Tongzhi era (1865) and was later appointed to many important governmental positions. Chong Yi was proficient the Chinese classics and political history.
