NOTE:
Beginning in 1929, Sun Duoci (1912-1975) studied oil painting and Chinese painting history with Xu Beihong. Impressed by her intelligence ans talent, Xu Beihong became infatuated with Sun. In 1938 when Xu Beihong left Wuhan for Changsha, he moved Sun's family with him to Guilin. Later Xu Beihong published in the Guangxi newspaper a Separation Announcement from his wife Jiang Biwei. However, Sun's parents strongly opposed this relationship and moved the family to Zhejiang without informing Xu Beihong, who suffered greatly from this loss.
