THE RARE FIRST EDITION of this celebrated work by Bartoli, dedicated to Cosimo I of Tuscany. It contains a series of reflections on the problems of measuring distances and height using geometrical methods and much attention is also paid to the questions of prospective and geometrical projection while the fourth book deals with the construction and use of the compass.
