Lot Essay

Born in the Transvaal, South Africa, Siegfried Hahn trained in Johannesburg and Cape Town before travelling to Europe where he studied under Sir William Russell Flint and Dame Laura Knight at the Royal Academy, London. This was followed by two years at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Atelier Sabatti, Paris.
After the war, he continued training in Europe before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1968 to co-found the Siegfried Hahn-Howard Wexler School of Drawing and Painting.
