STATUE DE GUANDI EN BUIS SCULPTE
CHINE, DYNASTIE QING, EPOQUE QIANLONG (1736-1795)
Debout dans une posture majestueuse, le pied gauche légèrement en avant, la tête tournée vers la gauche, la main droite passée dans sa ceinture, la gauche tenant un rouleau, vêtu d'une longue robe tombant en plis harmonieux jusqu'aux pieds, coiffé d'un bonnet de lettré noué d'un ruban dont les pans retombent sur les épaules, le bas de la robe portant une signature en cachet "sculpté par Huang Bingxun du district de Putian" ; bouchage au dos

Lot Essay

A very similar figure of Guandi of smaller size and also bearing the carved seal of Huang Bingxun from the Putian district is illustrated in Fang Jing Pei, Treasures of the Chinese Scholar, New York and Tokyo 1997, p.100, fig.90.
The artist is mentioned as being unrecorded elsewhere.
