De forme circulaire, décorée en laque rouge, verte et jaune (tianqi), incisée et soulignée à l'or (qiangjin), sur le dessus du couvercle d'un médaillon central enfermant le caractère shou, ce dernier entouré de cinq chauve-souris et de deux très grands dragons à cinq griffes, aux corps noueux couverts d'écailles, volant parmi les nuages, les côtés de la boîte et du couvercle rehaussés de cartouches polylobés à décor de chilong affrontés de part et d'autre du caractère shou, réservés sur fond d'entrelacs géométriques, les bordures agrémentées de frises de dragons gui, l'intérieur et la base laqués noir ; petits accidents et restaurations

The decorative technique qiangjin consists in incised outlines etched in gold denoting the outlines of the design; for tianqi (filled-in) lacquer, different lacquers colours are applied to enhance details and contrast against the coloured ground.
No other similar box of such importance appears to be published.
