Reposant sur un pied à décor de petits nuages, ces derniers repris sur toutes les bordures, la base agrémentée d'un lotus, l'extérieur du bol rehaussé de rinceaux feuillagés et lotus épanouis ou en boutons, l'intérieur orné d'un médaillon central représentant un double vajra, le pourtour décoré de quatre chevaux de couleurs différentes galopant sur des flots tumultueux, parmi les nuages

Compare this rare bowl with three others, dated mid-16th century, from the collection of Mr. Pierre Uldry, illustrated in H. Brinker and A. Lutz, Chinesisches Cloisonné - Die Sammlung Pierre Uldry, Museum Rietberg, Zurich 1985, pl.87 and 87A, pl.88 and 88A and pl.90.
The first bowl decorated with horses inside and on the central medallion ; the second bowl with a double vajra inside but chimeras and dragons on the side ; the third and closest example with horses on the inner side and flowers outside.
