2o (332 x 200 mm). Title with woodcut portrait of Muenster printed in red and black, 26 double-page woodcut maps, approximately 1280 woodcut illustrations in text. (Title trimmed and mounted, the large folding views of Heidelberg and Vienna are torn, chipped and repaired, some maps splitting along folds, some leaves are frayed at edges, some browing and staining.) Contemporary blind-stamped pigskin over wooden boards , brass clasps (some rubbing). Provenance: Cornelius J. Hauck (bookplate, purchased from Roy Vernon Sowers, 15 January 1954).

Later edition after the first edition of 1544. The 26 double-page maps include the "Modern" world map after Ortelius. America is shown in the world map and in Number 26 "Die Newe Welt." The famous caricature of Europa after Bucius (1537) appears at C5. Alden and Landis 628/84; Sabin 51395. Sold not subject to return.
