[INDIAN TREATIES]. [EASTERN TRIBES LAND DEEDS]. A REMARKABLE SET OF THREE INDIAN DEEDS, together with a covering certificate for the sale of lands by the tribes to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Together, four large DS on vellum, each one elaborately framed. -- DS, signed by A. J. Dallas, as Secretary of the Commonwealth, Philadelphia, 31 May 1794. Dallas certifies that "The three Annexed Instruments of Writing are true Copies from the originals, as Filed among the Records of the Late Supreme Executive Council." -- DS, 21 October 1784 (approximately 24½ x 26in.), defines the area from the Ohio River to Beaver Creek to the Susquehanna River to Kittaning. Clerically signed by the Six Nations tribe, and also by Oliver Wolcott at the Treaty of Fort Stanxix. -- DS, 21 January 1785 (approximately 25½ x 30in.), describing the samr area as the first deed, is clerically signed by the Wyandot and Delaware Tribes, and by William Bradford at the Treaty of Fort McIntosh. -- DS, 9 January 1789 (approximately 25½ x 30½in.), cedes the Presq'Isle [Erie] area, along with its bays and harbors. Clerically signed by several tribes (some signatures faded), and by Arthur St. Clair at Fort Harmar. Together 4 items. (4)
