Yunizar's art is one that is uncompromising in its creativity and expression. By focusing his artistic energy as spontaneously and sparingly as possible, he does not waste time on unnecessary embellishments. Colour, style, composition, and technique are kept to a minimum in his art so that the viewer can have an immediate confrontation with his imagery.
This present lot is unlike any of his other works which show aspects of universalism and masses of uniformity as seen in his scribbles and graffiti series. As the title suggests, 'Good morning my town' looks back to his home town, a nod to a more provincial and personal subject matter. However, his subject remains anonymous and naove in their construction and appearance like his other works, as they share simple lines, colours, and physical details. His use of simple colour and bold directional line suggests something of the angst and alienation of the individual in contemporary Indonesia with constant and confusing change in almost every aspect of society and culture.
