Bunga Jeruk's concept of art is not critical or analytical but rather is based on her opinions, feelings and insights. Sometimes she projects herself into the figures in her works, showing the essential idea through gesture, posture and facial expression. Some see her fun and colourful cartoon-like characters and settings as reminiscent of Japanese comic strips, called 'Manga' which were very popular in the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Although the artist has painted a whimsical scene in 'Good girls go to heaven', there is actually a deeper message which the artist is trying to convey. Death should not be taken lightly, but it can be taken in a more positive light. The small inset in the middle of the painting is the artist's rendition of a different world, a better, happier existence where there are still rainbows and green pastures.
