An Italian maiolica 'Istoriato' spouted drug jar
1580-1600, ATTRIBUTED TO PESARO
Painted in a palette of strong ochre, yellow, green, blue and brown with a maiden in ancient flowing garment holding a column with Corinthian capital with one hand and pointing with the other hand to a wide banderole inscribed * A * D * FENICULI, in a wide landscape with various high trees, a fortified architectural structure and distant cragged blue mountains, the oblique spout connected with twisted rope to the neck, the lower part of the strap handle with a tower and flanked by .A. and .T. (the spout restored)
