A chrome plated vase for the French Line (CGT) used on board the S.S. Normandie
Edgar Brandt and George Bastard, circa 1935
for the suites and the deluxe staterooms on-board the ocean liner S.S. Normandie, with a flared cylindrical body with the French Line logo 'CGT' impressed near the base, supported by open-work verticle bands on a circular band of metal spheres, raised on a weighted square base, stamped 'G. Bastard'. This is the larger of the two versions.
13½ in. (34.3 cm.) height.

Lot Essay

It is believed that the smaller version, such as Lot 192 were used in the 1st class stetrooms and suites, and the larger version, such as Lot 193, were used in the public rooms.
