MARTHE DAVELLI: Talentueuse cantatrice, Marthe Davelli a commencé sa carrière à l'Opéra Comique en 1915 dans la Tosca. Très rapidement, elle se classe au premier rang en se distinguant dans des opérettes à succès comme La Fille de Madame Angot de Charles Lecoq ou La Rôtisserie de la reine Pédauque d'André Messager. Son interprétation dans Grisélidis de Jules Massenet marque l'apogée de sa carrière en 1923. Marthe Davelli était aussi appréciée pour sa beauté et son sens de la mode. Avec ses cheveux courts et sa peau hâlée, elle était à l'avant-garde de l'élégance dans les années 1920 comme sa meilleure amie, Gabrielle Chanel, à qui elle ressemblait beaucoup. Ensemble, elles fréquentaient la meilleure société. Surnommée la " mondaine impénitente ", Marthe Davelli présenta notamment à Chanel le grand-duc Dimitri Pavlovitch avec qui cette dernière eut une liaison. Talented opera-singer, Marthe Davelli started her career at Opéra-Comique in 1915 in Tosca. Very quickly, she was performing as a front singer after she stood out in the successful operettas such as La Fille de Madame Angot by Charles Lecoq and La Rôtisserie de la Reine Pédauque by André Messager. Her performance in the Jules Massenet's Grisédelis, was viewed as a peak in her carreer in 1923. Marthe Davelli was appreciated for her beauty and her sense of style and fashion. With her short hair and tanned skin, she was the avant-garde of elegance in the 1920s, as was her best friend, Gabrielle Chanel, whom she resembled. Together, they frequented the best of what society had to offer and Davelli was responsible for introducing Chanel in particular, to the Grand-Duke Dimitry Pavlovitch, with whom the latter had an affair. She aquired the nickname at the time of the "mondaine impénitente", which translates as the "unrepentant socialite".
