A Chinese carved mother-of-pearl shell, circa 1840
with a central medallion carved with the Nativity scene above the incised word Bethlehem, flanked by palm leaves, above four roundels carved with Christ flanked by the Virgin Mary and archangel Gabriel and two cherubs -- 7in. (17.8cm.) wide.
