A Chinese bronze bombe censer, 18th century
of compressed globular form rising to the everted rim, the sides with a pair of lion-mask handles, supported on a short foot, with a sixteen-character inscription reading Da Ming Xuande wunian Jiandu Gongbu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao ('Made by Wu Bangzuo, supervisor of the Ministry of Works, in the 5th year of Xuande of the Great Ming') -- 7 7/8in. (20cm.) wide.
