A Chinese ochre ground vase, Kangxi (1662-1722)
of ovoid shape rising to the high slanted shoulders surmounted by the stepped and waisted neck with an inverted rounded galleried rim, incised with prunus blossoms issuing from a gnarled tree and bamboo amidst rockwork, below the shoulders with foliate lotus scrolls, the neck with lotus petal panel and plantain borders, all decorated within the incised design in lime-green, blue and aubergine glazes reserved on an ochre glazed ground except for the unglazed footrim -- 8 1/8in. (20.6cm.) high.
