A Chinese grisaille and iron-red enamelled teapot and cover, Qianlong (1736-1795)
the teapot of a compressed globular form with an ear shaped handle and tapering spout, lifted on a moulded and incised peony blossom heightened in gilt, supported on a green enamelled stem applied with peony buds and leaves decorated en grisaille and in iron-red, the sides decorated with two scenes of a bird perched on a leafy peony branch, the similarly enamelled peony moulded domed cover with a pointed finial -- 6 5/16in. (16cm.) across.
