An appreciation of the quality of life in Bonn, where she had moved with her daughter Adele: 'Dieses Jahr haben wir auch im Winter unsre eigne Haushaltung, im vorigen Winter ließen wir das Essen außer dem Hause holen'; politically life is quieter too, 'Dazu sind wir in politischer Hinsicht ruhiger wie ganz Deutschland, an Krieg glaubt fast Niemand mehr, und seit Prinz Wilhelm in Köln eingezogen ist, sind alle Rheinbewohner für den König begeistert' -- she goes on to make gentle fun of the excitement that Prince William's arrival has caused amongst the gentry of Cologne; she hears no news from Weimar, however.
Johanna Schopenhauer had moved to Bonn with her daughter Adele in 1828, and at first spent only the winter months there; she moved back to Weimar in 1837, at the invitation of the Grand Duke.
