PISSARRO, Camille (1830-1903). Two autograph letters signed ('C. Pissarro') to his wife, Julie, Paris, 7 May 1891 and 15 February 1897, 4 pages, 8vo; [with] MILLET, Jean-François (1814-1875). Autograph letter signed to an unidentified correspondent, Barbizon, 9 April n.y., one page, 8vo.

Pissarro's first letter announces the sale of two small works while he awaits an offer on two others. 'J'envoie 150 [francs] à Lucien produit de deux petits pastels vendus à l'exposition. J'attends une réponse pour une proposition pour mes 2 Gouaches'. The first part of the letter refers to medical matters, including a doctor's instructions for drops for her to take and mentioning his treatment for an abscess. The second (written at the Hôtel de Russie where Pissarro took a room to work on his series of paintings of the Boulevard Montmartre at different times of day and at night) is on domestic matters, regretting that Georges has accepted some faulty shoes, expecting her to come for Shrove Tuesday as agreed -- 'pourvu que vous me laissiez ma croisée libre, c'est tout ce que je demande'; referring to a birth certificate and recommending the purchase of a metal box to keep important documents in, adding in a postscript that he has sent money to Georges.

Millet writes that he has been ill -- 'je viens de subir comme vous voyez une longue maladie' -- is convalescing and hopes soon to be able to answer his letters.
