Autograph letter signed to the Swiss critic Dr Willy Schuh, Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, Munich, 16 October 1956, in German, thanking Schuch for an article on the Canticum Sacrum and hoping to be able to conduct the Canticum and his arrangement of Bach's canonic variations on the chorale 'Vom Himmel hoch da komm ich her' in Rome on 29 November, one page, 4to (one small stain), envelope signed on verso.
The Canticum Sacrum was first performed in Venice on 13 September 1956: Stravinsky had suffered a cerebral thrombosis while conducting the Symphony in C in Berlin on 2 October, though he subsequently recovered. (2)
