STRAVINSKY, Igor (1882-1971). Autograph letter signed to Serge Lifar, Charavines-les-bains, Isère, 2 August 1930, postcard, 2 pages, oblong 12mo, with autograph envelope, addressed to Serge Lifar at the 'London - Pavillon [sic] Theater'.
On the verge of finishing his new Symphony (in C), Stravinsky suspects that Lifar is attempting to persuade him to write a new composition for him. Regarding his work 'Capriccio', for piano and orchestra, and his new Symphony as purely symphonic works, he does not see the need for them to be choreographed - Lifar has asked him for ballet adaptations. As an alternative, Stravinsky suggests that Le Baiser de la Fée be restaged by Rouché.
