Document signed (as Regent for Louis XIV), Paris, 6 December 1652, on vellum, one page, oblong folio, signed by [Hugues] de Lionne (her secretary) on verso, appointing M[onsieur] Jacques Vigreux as one of her 'maitre des requetes ordinaires'; Louis II de BOURBON-CONDÉ (1621-1686). Philippe de Commynes, known chiefly for his Mémoires, served Louis XI of France on many diplomatic missions but sided with the Duke of Lorraine against the regent for Charles VIII; in 1487 he was arrested and his unscrupulously obtained wealth confiscated. Duquesne, who returned from the King of Sweden's service to command the French fleet, particularly hated the Spanish whom he routed at Palermo in June 1676. Rochambeau was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War in which he placed himself and his soldiers under Washington's command. (10)
