The functional design of this chair provided inspiration for the leading modernist architect and designer, Adolf Loos, who created an adapted model around 1906. He was so impressed by what he considered to be the Anglo-Saxon approach to relaxation that he wrote extensively on the subject in his text Das Sitzmvbel in 1898.
