An unusual French gilt and patinated brass eight day striking clock with barometer, twin thermometers and automaton gun turret
Movement by Japy Frères. Circa 1880
With rotating domed top set with cannons, set within a parapet and above a tapering tower decorated with brickwork, with flaming cannon mounts to the sides, on square base cast with lion masks and with shell casings to each angle, the feet formed as cannon balls, with dial above aneroid barometer dial, each with silvered chapter rings, flanked by flaming torches with applied with thermometers (one lacking), the movement with twin barrels, cylinder escapement and strike on gong, back plate stamped for JAPY FRÈRES, with independent single barrel automaton movement
28 in. (71 cm.) high
