The case decorated with bird and floral marquetry to the plinth on later skirting and in D-ended panels to the trunk door with circular lenticle, box-lined panels to the sides, convex throat mouldings beneath the formerly rising hood with later ebonised columns and later frets, the 11in. square dial signed Isaac Goddard Londini Fecit beneath the silvered chapter ring with later blued steel hands, the finely matted centre with seconds ring and central engraved rosette, probably restored bolt-and-shutter maintaining power, cherub-and-foliate spandrels with foliate engraving between, pinned dial feet, latches to the six ring-turned pillars of the movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on a bell above the plates, later seatboard
