A PAIR OF BRONZE FIGURES OF POSIDIPPOS AND MENANDER
BY FRANCSECO RIGHETTI (1749-1819), AFTER THE ANTIQUE, LATE 18TH OR EARLY 19TH CENTURY
Posidippos depicted seated in a high-backed chair with a scroll in his right hand and with his cloak over his left shoulder; Menander seated in a similar chair and with his left arm resting on the back and also holding a scroll; each on an integral bronze plinth and signed to the side 'F.RIGHETTI.F.ROMAE' the former also inscribed to the front of the plinth with his name in ancient Greek script; medium brown patina with lighter high points
