The circular top set within a flowerhead cast border, on square tapering female monopodiae supports decorated with rosettes, joined by a concave-sided quadripartite base, the undertier possibly previously further mounted

Lot Essay

A related ormolu gueridon with winged herm monopodiae instead of the slightly planer square tapering supports but with its circular marble top set within a closely related double-banded border cast with a pattern of flowerheads is at the Palace Museum, Pavlovsk (illustrated M.A. Flit et al., Pavlovsk: The Palace and the Park, Paris, 1993, pp. 166-167).
