London: John Wisden, 1920-29. 10 vols., 8vo., each with photographic plate, advertisements present, 1925 with inserted slip of instructions to the binder in pencil by [?]Warner, green half calf, gilt spines dated and numbered "Vol. 32-41" (rubbed, spine of 1924 worn), 1926-29 with original wrappers bound in (1927 wrappers with repaired tears), marbled edges. Provenance: P.F. Warner (signature in each volume on various leaves and on each front wrapper, 1921 initialled "P.F.W." on title; spines with gilt initials "P.F.W."). (10)

Lot Essay

In the 1921 Wisden, P.F. Warner is named Cricketer of the Year for the second time in his career. Included is a full page portrait and a biography which states, "There have been many greater cricketers than Pelham Warner but none more devoted to the game".
