Painted with soldiers surrounding Samson and taking a lock of his hair, the scantily draped and triumphant Delilah with her arms raised above her head, within a tiled courtyard
The plaque 7½ in. (19 cm.) x 11½ in. (29.2 cm.), in a parcel-gilt wood frame

Lot Essay

A footed dish in the Museo Acerbo with figures in a similar classical interior is illustrated by Andrea Antico, et al., 'maioliche di Castelli nella Collezione Acerbo' Museo Acerbo Catalogue (Pescara, 2001), p. 59, no. OA-248, and is attributed to Carmine Gentili.
