A MEISSEN CHINOISERIE BOWL
CIRCA 1730-35, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, GILDER'S DOT AND DREHER'S TWO CIRCLES TO FOOTRIM
Painted in the manner of C.F. Herold, one side with a kneeling Oriental before a dignitary seated before two figures and a monkey on a table, on a terrace with flowering plants, the other with an Oriental huntsman holding a crossbow and with two dogs standing before a figure and two children on a terrace with a fence and flowering plants, within gilt line quatrefoil cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels, gilt scrolls and iron-red and purple foliage scrolls, drapery and small Oriental figures, between flowering peony and chrysanthemum plants, the interior with an Oriental holding a tray within a similar cartouche, the border with a band of gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk, gilt line rim (very minor wear to gilt rim)
