CIRCA 1770-75, BLUE SCEPTRE MARK
Each side finely painted with birds and waterfowl among reeds and shrubs below an ozier-moulded border, the curved spout and double-scroll handle moulded with scrolling foliage enriched in gilding, the cover with a robin in flight below a flower finial, gilt dentil rims (rims with minute wear to gilding)

A tête à tête with Vogelmalerei is illustrated by Robert Schmidt, Das Porzellan (Munich, 1925), pl. 39, and by Erich Köllmann, Berliner Porzellan (Berlin, 1966), Vol. II, pl. 16. A dessert-plate in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg, which is decorated with very similar herons and birds is illustrated by Erich Köllmann and Margareta Jarchow, Berliner Porzellan (Munich, 1987), Vol. II, p. 443, fig. 274b.
