This bear was owned by a German girl, Eva Maria Bollwein who was born in November 1924. She met an English soldier, who later became her husband, in Hamburg just after World War II while he was serving with the British Army at the Nuremberg trial. This bear stayed with her during the war and travelled with her to England with the few belongings she had left; she died in 1993 in Cheshire. The photograph shows Eva aged 2½.
