A Japanese ivory tanto, 19th century
of slightly curved form, the scabbard carved with a continuous scene of immortals, musicians, scholars and boys amidst pine trees engaged in leisurely pursuits including music and acrobatics, the handle carved with dignitaries below pine and clouds, incised mark -- 11 5/8in. (29.5cm.) long; and an ivory wrist rest, carved in the form of bamboo, the concave side with two brown coloured spiders, Meiji. (2)
