Two Japanese dolls, 19th Century
of a courtier and a legendary figure possibly one of the leaders of the Suikoden, each wearing elaborate robes and headdress, the textiles possibly 18th century, heads and hands in light wood and gofun (oyster shell paste) decorated in ink and colour, each on a painted lacquer wood stand -- 21½in. (54.7cm.) high maximum. (2)
