A Chinese enamelled silver ewer and cover, late 19th early 20th century
of an ovoid form rising to a waisted neck and galleried rim, applied with a dragon shaped handle and elongated spout emerging from the jaws of a dragon and supported by a double-lozenge strut, the domed cover with a tear shaped finial on a chrysanthemum base, supported on a splayed foot, decorated with a phoenix perched on rockwork beside a butterfly and peony sprays, the reverse with a four character inscription amidst peony branches and a butterfly, with key-fret borders on the shoulders and rim, the foot with upright plantain below a pearl pattern, engraved and punched four-character Qianlong mark -- 13 9/16in. (34.4cm.) high.
