A Chinese blue and white soft paste 'dragon and phoenix' vase, early 18th century
of pear shape rising to the tall waisted neck and galleried rim, applied with a pair of dragon loop handles with suspended loose rings, supported on a splayed foot, painted with alternating writhing five-clawed dragons and phoenix, the neck with a floral band framed by whirl patterns below a border of upright plantain, the rim with a key-fret band, the foot with an interlocked foliate scroll above a classic scroll -- 6½in. (16.5cm.) high.
